Whether you are going to go bust some clays at a range that has banned lead ammunition, or you’re going to pristine bird country where you’d like to leave the land as pure as you found it, steel shot is the way to go. This 12 Gauge shell from RIO Ammunition’s BlueSteel line contains one ounce of 7 steel shot, which is great for pheasant and dove and larger birds including quail, grouse, and partridge if you’re firing from the 25 to 35 yard mark. This shot is good for clay and paper targets, and home defense as well, but make certain never to fire it at metal backdrops! Steel pellets an unfortunate tendency to ricochet off of steel.
This shell also offers a high quality primer, powder, and wad, all made from scratch at RIO’s Marshall, TX factory. They’re a subsidiary of MAXAM, a Spanish company that accounts for the production of 500 million shotgun shells annually.
