It’s been a staple product in the American shooting market since 2002, and offers a significant savings to shotgunners that want quality ammunition for a low price point.
This Rio load is a 12 gauge shotshell with a 2 ¾” length and a 1 ounce payload of 9 shot. In shotgun shooting terms it’s about as simple and light a load as one can get in a 12 gauge cartridge. The hunting potential with this round is limited mostly to small game in reasonable distance ranges, up to about 20 yards. The sport shooting potential with this is significantly higher volume however, as this 9 shot in this configuration can easily be your go-to skeet, trap or other sporting round.
More than suitable for the sport shooter, but priced for the general lead-slinger, this is a nice price point and offers nearly unlimited shooting on a budget. Rio (and its parent company) is among the leading producers by volume of shotgun ammunition in the world.
