This percussion double barrel shotgun is stocked in walnut and trimmed in blued and color case hardened steel furniture. The factory buttplate has been remove and a spacer with a rubber recoil pad is fitted. The front action locks are factory engraved with a floral pattern. The gun was manufactured by Davide Pedersoli of Italy. Weight is 7.1 pounds to help absorb the recoil from the 12 gauge bores. The 13-5/8″ and 14-5/8″ trigger reach should fit today’s larger or taller shooter quite well. This shotgun is used with handling marks on the stock. The polished and blued barrels are 27″ long. The 12 gauge bores are cylinder bore on the right and an integral modified choke on the left. Both bores are mirror bright. The front sight is a standard brass bead with a mid bead at the center of the barrel. On barrels with integral chokes your options for loading are wood wads, or traditional cards and wads. For loading traditional card wads through a choke the card manufacturer recommends using a 12 gauge over powder card pushed through the choke sideways, so only two sides of the card are flattened. A smaller 14 gauge fiber wad is used. The thin over shot card can easily pass through a choke without any difficulty.The straight grip walnut stock is fitted with a spacer and rubber recoil pad. This wide buttplate is nearly flat, making it comfortable with full loads. The long tang is blued and factory engraved to match the triggerguard, locks, and barrel breeches. The forend is has a single key that retains the barrel. The key allows for quick disassembly for cleaning. Simply withdraw the ramrod, press out the key with firm thumb pressure, and lift the muzzle end, to dismount the barrels for easy cleaning. The ramrod is fitted with a brass shotgun style loading tip on one end and a brass tip with 10-32 threads for loading and cleaning accessories on the opposite end. No cheekpiece is carved, making this shotgun equally handy for right or left hand shooters. The wedge key is slotted and fitted with a capture pin, which prevents it from becoming lost in the field, exactly like better original guns. The factory nipples for No. 11 percussion caps are fitted. When cleaning at the end of the day remove the nipples, using our NW-120 nipple wrench, and immerse the breech end in a bucket of hot soapy water. Place a wet cleaning patch on our Ramrod-7-10-B cleaning rod, fitted with our Jag-12-10 cleaning jag tip. Push the air out, and draw the water in, as you pump the ramrod the full length of each barrel, a few times. Change the water, and the patch. When the patch comes out clean, you are ready to wipe the bores dry, using a patch wetted with water displacing oil. The Pedersoli shotgun locks are case colored and engraved with a floral pattern. Both locks are perfect inside, with strong springs, secure half-cock notches, and full cock notches that release smoothly with normal trigger finger pressure. Davide Pedersoli double shotguns use standard 1/4-28 nipple. Apply a tiny amount of Birchwood Casey’s Choke Tube Lube, or any good anti-seize grease, to the nipple threads before installation.
