This 9x18mm Makarov cartridge by Silver Bear sports a 94 grain projectile, a common bullet weight for its caliber. Its bullet’s full metal jacket makes this round an ideal choice if you’re bringing your Pistolet Makarova to an extended session at the shooting range, as it will prevent the rapid accumulation of lead residue in your bore so you may enjoy tight groupings for longer periods in between uncapping your bottle of Hoppe’s.
This round is manufactured at the Barnaul Cartridge Plant in Russia. As such it has a Berdan primed steel casing, as Russian ammo so often does. This makes the round very cost-effective, as steel is substantially less expensive than brass, but at the trade-off of not being reloadable. The casing’s zinc plating helps it to feed and eject reliably in semi-automatic weapons. (Indeed, that’s where the “Silver” in Silver Bear comes from!)
