The total metaljacket bullet achieves a muzzle velocity of 985 feet per second and possessesthe same ballistic traits as its companion Gold Dot cartridge. The TMJ platingcovers the base of the bullet and reduces lead exposure but renders the bulletunusable in ported barrels. Since ported barrels primarily appear oncompetition guns, this tradeoff does not affect the vast majority of carry andduty firearms and helps keep costs down for the shooter.
