Perhaps no other round is more proven worldwide for more shooters than the military surplus version of the 7.62x39mm cartridge that is used in the SKS and the AK-47 variants. It simply has been shot for billions of rounds and has such a low rate of failure or issue that it has become a legendary choice for many shooter’s needs. TULA 7.62×39 is better than the military surplus ammunition for a couple of reasons. It has maintained the low price point despite many other similar cartridges inflating over time, especially as the military surplus ammunition gets harder to find. It also has a non-corrosive build. The Berdan primer and the powder both are now a non-corrosive formulation, which cannot be said for many other rounds from the Eastern Bloc and certainly cannot be said for the MILSURP ammunition many of us are used to shooting.
This is a non-reloadable cartridge with a steel casing and a Berdan primer, which while it takes a little away from the reloaders who might want to play around with loads, is par for the course when it comes to most 7.62×39 ammunition. The Berdan primer is as good as it gets, although can be a hard primer at times. The ignition reliability is the best in the world.
This is a 124 grain load made to mimic the original surplus ammunition.
