Sellier & Bellot is one of the world’s oldest manufacturingcompanies and one of the world’s foremost ammunition makers. Originally led byFrench businessmen Louis Sellier and Jean Bellot, the company spent much of itsearly history from 1825 to 1870 filling contracts for percussion caps from theAustrian Empire. In 1870 the company began producing ammunition in earnest andquickly ramped up annual production to over 10 million cartridges by the end ofthe decade. After World War I and the fall of Austria-Hungary, the companyturned to serving the new Czechoslovak military and police forces and landedexport contracts in Asia and South America. In 1936, Sellier moved from itsoriginal facility in Prague to Vlasim, where it remains today.
After a period of control by the post-WWII Soviet-backedauthorities, the company once again became a private enterprise in 1992. Today,Sellier exports about 70% of its production to over 70 countries worldwide, atestament to the competitive quality of its products.
