These are surplus ammo cans that are part of a surplus container that held a lot of these types of ammo cans. They are 200 round ammo cans for the 7.62×51 cartridge and are a uniform size of roughly 10 inches by 7 inches by 3.5 inches. The pictured can may not be indicative of the type of can you will see, as this is just one load type (in this case – a blank for the 7.62×51 cartridge for ceremonial purposes made by LC – Lake City Ordnance Plant, Independence, MO.). This is generally referred to as the M19 surplus ammo can that was introduced in 1946. The year of introduction is also no indication as to the lot type or year of manufacture that you will receive. You cannot be sure of the specifics of the case markings and original use or dates of manufacture or lot types.
What you can be sure of is that you will be getting is a high quality ammo can at a very good price that will last you years with a watertight construction and a fair/good outer appearance or better, despite being a legitimately surplus piece of equipment.
