A legitimate clone of the original surplus 7.62x54r ammunition that has served as the Eastern Bloc’s long-range man carried round of choice for about 100 years. This is a fine example of 7.62x54R, with improvements over the credible surplus ammunition we are all familiar with. This round features a 185 grain full metal jacket projectile for good long range terminal ballistics.
The benefit of this round over the previous surplus specific iterations is that this cartridge has a better cartridge coating that offers better feed and extraction reliability. It is also significantly cleaner from a powder and primer perspective, utilizing a non-corrosive primer and powder. That’s a major improvement over the original surplus ammunition. Generally, this is at the same price point relative to the surplus ammunition and it also has the same ignition and functional reliability. The ignition reliability comes from the Berdan Primer that has multiple firing ports for the original charge. The functional reliability is inherent to the cartridge, but this one has a great crimp on the projectile to maintain consistency and has that more “even” coating for the cartridge casing.
This round is not reloadable from a practical perspective, but the cost of the cartridge per round, more than makes up for this shortcoming.
